5 Hair care tips for men
Global Education Director
Premium hair care keeps your hairstyle healthy. This applies not only to women, but also to men. How do you achieve that? It starts with high-quality hair products especially for men. Here are 5 tips from hair experts for optimal hair care and the best products for men.
Tip 1: Choose the right shampooUse a good quality shampoo. This ensures healthy hair with a natural shine. Cheap shampoos usually contain more artificial substances that do not nourish the hair. The result is a dry or itchy scalp. Choose a shampoo that suits your hair type. Go for hair care especially for men or for a general line:
Dry hairFor dry hair, go for a shampoo that moisturizes and nourishes:
1922 Essential; a convenient two-in-one shampoo from 1922 men's hair care. Can also be used as a shower gel. Ideal for damaged hair and dry skin.
So Pure Restore; mild, gentle cleansing for dry, damaged hair.
Do you have gray hair? Then it is best to choose products for dry hair.
Greasy hairOily hair starts at the scalp. Choose a shampoo that balances the sebum production of your scalp:
1922 Deep Cleansing; this mild men's shampoo removes all impurities from your hair. Think of: leftover hair products, dust and other dirt particles.
Care Derma Regulate; gentle on your hair and soothes your scalp. Balances the sebum production of your scalp.
So Pure Clarify; deeply cleanses the hair without damaging it. Leaves hair feeling weightless after use.
If you have fine and thin hair, choose a strengthening shampoo with creatine.
1922 Refreshing; stimulates blood circulation for a healthy scalp. Your hair is also strengthened and nourished with creatine and hemp seed extract.
Care Derma Activate; Do you notice that your hair is thinning? Or less full? Then you can use extra keratin. This important building material ensures stronger hair and less hair loss.
Do you suffer from a scalp or hair problem, such as dandruff / flakes or thinning hair? Then use a shampoo that addresses the 'problem'.
RoseConsider an anti-dandruff shampoo that fights dandruff:
-1922 Purifying; anti-dandruff shampoo especially for men. Fights dandruff and nourishes the hair.
Care Derma Exfoliate; helps to balance the natural function of your scalp and the fungi
Use a hair strengthening shampoo that stimulates hair growth:
1922 Fortifying; this men's shampoo contains creatine and vitamin B5 to strengthen and thicken your hair.
Care Derma Activate; this shampoo provides stronger hair and less hair loss.
For a sensitive scalp, our experts recommend using a mild shampoo:
Care Derma Sensitive: a mild, soothing shampoo. After use, enjoy a relaxed, well-groomed scalp - and soft, healthy hair. Also ideal for bald men who want to wash their scalp!
A conditioner gives extra nourishment to your hair and scalp. It makes your hair softer, smoother and easier to style. It puts a protective layer around your hair, making your hair less vulnerable. The same applies to this product as with shampoo; go for a good variant with ingredients that nourish the hair and your scalp. The better the nutrition, the stronger and healthier hair you get.
Use conditioner after washing your hair and let it soak in before rinsing. For the best result, choose a conditioner from the same line as your shampoo (see the heading above).
Bonus tip: if you have a beard, you can also give it the necessary attention with conditioner!
Tip 3: Don't wash your hair too oftenOur hair experts recommend washing and conditioning your hair 2 to 3 times a week on average. Do you wash your hair every day? Then this can disturb the scalp, because you wash away the natural oils (sebum production) on your scalp. This makes your hair and scalp drier and you will suffer from flakes more quickly. Do you have very thick hair and do you not easily suffer from oily hair? Then you can continue 2 times a week. Men who have naturally dry hair and/or curls can also skip a wash just a little more often.
Tip 4: Give your hair a restDo you apply styling products such as gel or wax on a daily basis? Skip it for a day. This way you can air it out and it stays healthy. Also, avoid using too many styling products. This makes your hair greasy and heavy. Especially if you use professional hairdressing products you only need a small fingertip.
Tip 5: Protect from the sunDo not expose your hair to direct sunlight for too long. Sun extracts moisture from your hair, which causes dry and dull hair. Do you dye your hair? Then the sun can cause color fading. Occasionally protect your locks with a cap and use hair styling with UV protection, such as our Power Paste or Head Lock.
